the puddle muddle...The combined catering genius of Carmans (by appointment to the Queen (or is it the village idiot?)) managed to break a maintenance-free machine (the drinks dispenser - known locally as the eighth wonder of the world!) causing the entire warehouse to flood during the course of the day.By the evening the hawk-like eyes of the staff had spotted the new swimming-pool in the warehouse and between them they managed to inform the manager at the time. He quickly took control and decided that the matter was too technical for his abilities and chose to call a builder (not a plumber) to sort out the problem. Upon arrival, the bemused builder politely explained that he could see what the problem was (instantly putting him one-up on the entire warehouse workforce who hadn't worked out the the water flowing from underneath the wall, and could possibly, pushing the boat out a bit, be coming from the other side of the wall) but that there wasn't much he could do - apart from turn the machine off at the wall and stop the pump from spilling quite potent "non-glutenated fruit-flavour-based soft drink" over the floor (putting him two up over the staff!) A moral of the story, beware of seemingly idle drinks machines as they may cause unforeseen problems... Got some more funny work related stories, why not send them to us... |
