Sugar Review
This magazine is an exciting read for teenage girls, priced at £1.80.
Each month brings a different free gift, as well as every issue being packed with interviews, surveys, fashion tips, competitions and true-life stories.
This month's interviews were with A1, Alyson Hannigan (Willow from 'Buffy'), and Craig David. Full of facts about their personal lives, these interviews make an interesting read, although some questions can become mildly repetitive.
The surveys are fun to do with a mate and the true stories and special report on sexual abuse expose issues directly related to teenage girls.
Every issue contains gossip on popular celebrities, horoscopes, boywatching and 'how embarrassing', which is the chance for readers to write in with their own stories. Also included are reviews of the latest films, music, soaps and TV programmes.
The problem pages which are featured every month, are managed by Sugar's Agony Aunt Wendy, Doctor Sarah Brewer, and Agony Uncle Richard, who provide helpful advice for the trials of teenage life.
Sugar's 'Style council' of Jane, Catherine, Leanne and Nat tell you exactly what's hot in clothes, make up and accessories, and help with hair and skin care.
Competitions and free give-aways make sugar a very affordable and fashionable magazine to read.
Top of the Pops Review
Top of the Pops is aimed at pop music lovers, priced at £1.50, made by the BBC. Every month is a chance to find out what happens backstage, the latest pop gossip, and grab your favourite posters and song words.
This month's free gift is a book of celebrity secrets, more of which are included in the main magazine. Some can be amusing, but most of their deepest darkest secrets can be rather lame.
The magazine is packed mainly with celebrity interviews, which can get a little boring after you've read the first few. Top of the Pops also introduces its readers to new musical talent, and treats us to its monthly competition 'Smash and Grab'. Overall its an OK read, but only worth it if you like pop music.
