what's cool in Milan...

Here's a guide to what's cool where I live... it's actually not that different to in the UK.

· Pokemon

Yup, they've invaded Italy too. The cards and the game are popular with kids' aged 13 and under. The cartoon is shown on Mediaset 1 (one of the Italian terrestrial TV channels) and the cards and merchandise are sold pretty much everywhere. So even Italian teenagers can't walk into a shop without seeing a 3 year old having a tantrum over a Pikachu doll.

· South Park

South Park started on Italian TV last year, it's on at about 11pm, but that doesn't stop teenagers and kids from watching it. You can get dolls, keyrings, t-shirts and other stuff in shops like Virgin Megastore, and you can get fake t-shirts in places like markets.

· Karm Bead Bracelets

Loads of teenagers around Milan have these on their wrists- some of the girls even have their whole lower arms covered in them. Boys and girls wear them and they're meant to give you stuff like luck, and self confidence, depending on the colour. There are a lot of colours, from black for punky types to pink for girly types.

· Playstation & Playstation 2

Unfortunately, the Playstation is waaaayyyy more popular than the N64 and Dreamcast over here. Playstation (the first one) isn't that cool anymore, because of the new, better consoles coming out, but basically everyone has one from when it came out. I'm a N64 person myself, though, so I don't really care.
