teenage pregnancy - the new approach

So the government are worried about the high rate of teenage pregnancies. Figures show more than 6% of teen girls between the ages of 15 and 19 are becoming pregnant, leaving the UK with the highest rates in Europe.

They reckon that previous attempts to reduce teenage pregnancy rates have failed because they have only targeted young women. Seems like this is all going to change though. Watch out for a new campaign this autumn, which has been drawn up by Yvette Cooper , Minister for Public Health.

She says that the message to the guys out there is that you can't escape your financial responsibilities if you get a girl pregnant. Boys will be liable to pay for financial support as soon as they finish education and go out to work. That could be a cool 15% of your earnings and if you don't pay then your driving licence will be taken away.
