Chantal, working @ ???

So, where did I go?

Perhaps to Top of The Pops, Alton Towers or even somewhere cool like pupiline, NO, NOT SO LUCKY.

On the 3rd of July 2000, I began my 3 weeks of what can only be called 'challenging' work experience at a local estate agents.

Everyday, while my friends were making 'Play-Doh' cakes or serving a burger and fries, I would be photocopying, filing, answering the phone, giving customers property details and everything else that the office junior did but without being paid.

There were benefits of it, I didn't have to get up until 8.30 or catch a bus, and I did get the chance to nose around posh new executive apartments.

Personally, I think that work experience is a very good idea but only if you get a good placement. I chose an estate agents because I thought it would be different as I have no plans what so ever to go into the property market business. I know someone that will probably become a scientist, who did their work experience as a ranger.

If you are doing work experience this year, I recommend you really think about where you want to go.

Tips on choosing your placement:
· Look at all the options.
· Really consider any placements before making a decision.
· Chose something that you are interested in. Either as something different or as a possible career.
· Make sure you can get there.
